Heroes and Zeros are hoping to release their next album some time next year, and will continue working on songs throughout the summer, says drummer Arne Kjellsrud Mathisen to SuspendedEyes.com.
“We have spent the last few months writing new songs, and we’re now slowly starting to work again with our producer, Thomas Tofte”, says Arne during a break from the band’s studio work in Oslo’s Zeroworld.
“We do this to further develop the (new) songs, try them out in the studio, and see if they’re good enough”, he continues, emphasizing that it remains uncertain whether or not these songs will be used on their upcoming record.
Heroes & Zeros are due to enter the studio again during the fall of 2008, to start preparing a new album for 2009 release. The pre-production sessions they are going through now involve playing “a good selection of songs”, with “no song titles ready yet.”
Although the band is planning to continue studio work for only a few weeks, their work on writing new material will continue for the next months, and will affect the number of live shows in the near future.
“It is not improbable that we perform some new tracks this summer, but we won’t be playing as much, but focus on song-writing,” says Arne, also confirming that the band will play at Canal Street (Arendal) and Midnattsrocken (Lakselv) the coming summer.
P.S. For those that have discussed Hans Jørgen’s shoe preferences in our forum, Arne can confirm that the band’s vocalist still “enjoys wearing both Converse and leather shoes, depending on his day-to-day mood.”
